Decatur Ballroom Dance Community Decatur Ballroom Dance Community DECATUR/DEKALB YMCA Ballroom Dance Class Series Starts Sunday Night April 11, 2010   Pre-register Now! Forward this to a friend! Payment due at first class session. All classes are held on Sunday Evenings at Decatur/Dekalb YMCA. Ballroom 1 (Beginners) Our beginner group series class is designed for first time dancers.  Worry free- you will be taught everything you need to know to join us on the dance floor.   The beginner class curriculum includes: waltz, foxtrot, rumba, and swing.  The dance instruction is formatted to progress the students level of dance. Lessons are taught by a DVIDA nationally certified instructor. It is best if you have a partner but not necessary as we rotate partners throughout the class (singles and couples are welcome). Lessons will last one hour and 10 min.  including 10 minutes of dance community news, curriculum and calendar updates. Following the lesson will be a 25 minute practice session with music and coaching.  All students will be encouraged to participate in dance community events such as "Dinner and Dancing", holiday formals, various practice parties and workshops. 6 class sessions  (Classes held in Gym) Sunday nights 5:30pm to 6:30pm      Practice time from 6:30pm to 7:00pm 7 classes   Latin Social Dance  2 - salsa and merengue Pre-requisite- Latin social Dance 1 7 class sessions on Sunday evenings  4:30 pm to 5:30 pm   Strictly Cha Cha   Taught by our dynamic Latin Dance Specialist - Nyla Blacknell No partner necessary. Sunday Night at 7:00 pm (practice at 6:30 pm) 7 class series A review of your basic cha-cha patterns and technique and some exciting new patterns and stylings for the intermediate social dancers. This will be an exciting and informative class - please pre-enroll as it is likely to sell out early!   7 class sessions - Times, dates and teachers subject to change based on enrollment.
